Surf’s up on summer fun

There are plenty of fun activities happening in Brimbank this summer to keep the young – and young at heart – entertained.

Tullamarine’s URBNSURF and the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre in Keilor Downs are sure to be on families’ must visit list when the summer heat finally arrives.

If swimming or surfing is not your thing, why not stop by the annual St Albans Gift on January 7?

Run by the St Albans Sports Club in conjunction with Victorian Athletics League, the event attracts thousands of racegoers and spectators each year and is a fun day out for the whole family.

On January 15, head to Alfrieda Street, St Albans, to kick-start Lunar New Year celebrations. There will be entertainment, games, food, and fireworks between 10am and 10pm.

Lunar New Year Celebrations will also be held in St Albans on January 29, from 10am. Organised by the Vietnamese Australian Foundation, the event at 9 McKechnie Street, St Albans, will celebrate traditional Vietnamese new year’s customs.

Crafty kids can show off their artistic flair at Keilor, Deer Park and Sydenham libraries on January 12, 16 and 17 respectively, when the NGV Kids on Tour program comes to town.

Participants will have the chance to make a sculpture, a collage and a poem as part of the program.
