The Royal Australian Navy will visit Sunshine Heights Cricket Club on December 15, to play in a special T20 cricket match.

The community is invited to attend the match which will feature presentations from Navy representatives, Brimbank councillors and Cricket Australia officials as well as action on the cricket field.

It is the third time Navy personel has challenged Sunshine Heights Cricket Club to a T20 match, following the inaugural event in December 2019.

RAN spokesman Nick Magafas said, “This is something that we initiated in 2019. However COVID interrupted for 2 years, so we are excited to be back”.

“We are looking forward to playing the game. It’s a great day out for everyone, but we are also trying to introduce the idea of joining the Navy, as a possible choice to a community that is often neglected. We found that not many people from Brimbank had been informed about joining or didn’t know anyone that was a defence member.

“At the last match, recruitment had set up an information stall and there was a great response from local community. We want to let people know that this is an option, and it may be something that could provide hope to them. We can’t wait to play this match, the atmosphere at them is amazing!“
