Green Gully’s woes went from bad to worse when the Cavaliers slumped to a 6-1 hiding against Oakleigh Cannons in the NPLV on Friday night.
After conceding four goals in the first half in a 5-3 loss to South Melbourne last week, the Cavaliers were down 3-0 after 45 minutes at Jack Edwards Reserve this week.
But this time there was no second-half rally to make the score look respectable.
Mitchell Bissinger scored Green Gully’s only goal with a header after 53 minutes.
In NPL1, Sunshine George Cross overcame a two-goal deficit to overrun Moreland Zebras 4-3.
Georgies made a good start, with Muhamad Chawk scoring in the first five minutes.
The Zebras quickly responded and added a second goal to be 2-1 up at the 23th minute and went 3-1 ahead early in the second half.
But three goals in 15 minutes, starting with a penalty by Delfin Mosibe, saw Georgies take the three points.
