Taylors Lakes appoints new coach

Charles Cuzzupi has been appointed Taylors Lakes senior coach for the upcoming Essendon District Football League division 1 season.

The Lions announced on Sunday that they had appointed Cuzzupi as senior coach and Rohan Eastway as assistant coach.

Cuzzupi is no stranger to the EDFL, having played more than 300 games for Avondale Heights and more recently held the post of football manager at the club.

He’s got an extensive coaching background having started that at Avondale Heights and has been part of the Calder Cannons and Vic Metro programs.

He plans to continue working with the Cannons and Vic Metro this year.

Eastway also played his football at Avondale Heights, where he is a past premiership captain. Most recently he has been a conditioning coach with Altona in the Western Region Football League.

Cuzzupi replaces Sam Tankard who stepped down from the role late last year.

Lions president Hilary Pollock said that were excited by what Cuzzupi would bring to the club.

“Charles’ coaching experience brings new ideas, philosophies and a fresh approach that the club is keen to
explore and see implemented.

“The Taylors Lakes Football Club is looking forward to working with Charles and his team and supporting him in his aspirations for the club in 2019.

“Again, we would like to thank Sam Tankard for his work and commitment to our club over the last four years and we wish him well with his next football adventure.”
