Keilor was left to rue a disappointing effort against Maribyrnong Park in Essendon District Football League premier division.
The Blues were outplayed in the midfield and it showed on the scoreboard.
The Lions remain undefeated this season. On Saturday, they defeated the Blues 15.20 (110)-8.11 (59).
Blues coach Mick McGuane said they were made to pay for poor decisions across the game.
“We were outplayed and they were way too good for us,” McGuane said.
“Our midfield was smashed and they were winning territory … with the talent up forward against who we had down back, they were always going to make us pay.
“It was poor decision-making and turnovers.”
Dean Galea kicked five goals for the Blues, while Josh Martin was named the Blues’ best in the loss.
McGuane said they would have a big week on the track as they tried to address some of the errors from the weekend.
One area the Blues would like some luck is on the injury front, with 13 senior players missing from the list.
McGuane said most of the injuries were medium to long-term, with only Jack Kennedy possibly expected back in the short term.
Among those missing are Michael Tanner, Jesse Wallin, Andrew Browne, Damien Cavka and Sam Hooper.
“There’s certainly some talent there in the grand stands,” McGuane said.
“We’re giving opportunities at this time to some players who are certainly looking to keep a spot.”
David Gourdis played his first game since round one on Saturday and Mason Thomas and Luke Hitch played their first games of the year. McGuane said he would have liked to give them more time to get match fit, but it wasn’t possible with the other injuries.
The loss puts the Blues back in the back, sitting 3-3. McGuane said the fight for finals’ spots has already began.
“There’s the breakaway with three teams already, that leaves three teams fighting for one spot,” he said.
The other weekend winners were Aberfeldie, Greenvale, Strathmore and Pascoe Vale.
In division 1, Hillside has lost a second straight match in Essendon District Football League division 1.
The undermanned Sharks had a task on their hands against the undefeated Airport West.
The Eagles broke the game open in the third quarter, before winning 18.25 (133)-14.7 (91).
Mitchell Church scored five goals for the Sharks, but was more than matched at the other end with Tyson Young kicking eight goals for the Eagles.
Taylors Lakes moved into the top four with a win against Jacana.
In division 2, Burnside Heights could not wind back a poor first quarter against the Northern Saints, losing 16.11 (107)-13.3 (81).
