Keilor is through to the Essendon District Football League preliminary final after smashing Pascoe Vale on Sunday.

The Blues further enhanced their reputation as the competition’s premiership wildcard with a 49-point winning margin.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, with the Blues forced to fight during a tough first half.

But after taking a six-point lead into the half-time break, Keilor emerged from the change rooms with renewed focus, booting a staggering 10 goals in the third term to seal the 20.11 (131) – 12.10 (82) win.

The Keilor forward line was at its consistent best in the victory, with a number of different avenues to goal efficiently taken.

David Gourdis was the standout, with a bag of six goals, while Darren Tanti, Nicholas Davidson and Ryan Bathie kicked three each. Around the ground, Nathan Schroder and Kane Barbuto were impressive.

Keilor now turns its attention to its preliminary final opponent Greenvale. The pair last met in round 16 when the Blues came out on top by six points.

The competition’s premiership front-runner remains Aberfeldie, which booked its place in the grand final at the weekend.

Aberfeldie easily accounted for Greenvale by 50 points, 10.14 (74) – 3.6 (24), with impressive matches by Brock McLean and Kyle Reimers, while Joshua Smith was adjudged best on ground.

In other EDFL weekend results, Craigieburn got the better of Tullamarine by 22 points to secure its place in the division 1 grand final.

Jason and Cameron Cloke combined for four goals in the win.

Craigieburn will take on Essendon’s Doutta Stars in this week’s grand final.
