Jarryd Formosa (pictured) and his Albanvale teammates returned to the winners’ list in the nick of time when they defeated the Wyndham Suns in their Western Region Football League division 3 preliminary final at the weekend. After finishing the regular season on top of the ladder, the Cobras were shock losers in the first week of finals, going down to Parkside. But locked in a do-or-die contest on Sunday, Albanvale found its best form, dominating the Suns on its way to a 16.18 (114) – 5.12 (42) scoreline. The Cobras will get the chance of revenge when they take on Parkside again this week. The grand final stakes couldn’t be higher, with the winner set to earn the premiership cup and promotion to the WRFL’s second division. Albanvale made the division 3 grand final last year, narrowly losing to Braybrook.
