Five Deer Park workers have been taken to hospital in a stable condition following exposure to an unknown chemical at a factory this morning.

Fire crews have hosed down three men exposed.

The men were reportedly working at a factory site on Foleys Road when a pipe burst, showering them in an unknown chemical.

An MFB spokesman said the chemical is still unknown.

Three men, aged 40, 44 and 50, remain in a stable condition in Footscray hospital.

Two men, a 41-year-old and a 44-year-old, have since been discharged from Sunshine Hospital.
