Vicroads seeks feedback

VicRoads is calling for community feedback on preliminary designs for a $1.8 billion program involving eight major road projects in the west.

The projects include arterial road upgrades and maintenance, and are available on the Vicroads website in an interactive map format to make projects easier to identify.

Online readers can ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ elements, drop ‘pins’ onto the map, comment on and discuss designs, and contribute any other feedback.

Projects include works to improve the Boundary-Palmers roads intersection, replacing the Dohertys-Palmers roads roundabout with traffic lights, and upgrades to the Wellness Trail bike path, which connects the Western Ring Road to Caroline Springs.

The website is open for community feedback until midnight March 19, and a full list of projects can be found at www.vicroads.mysocialpinpoint.com/westernupgrades#.

In other news, the Melton Highway level crossing at Sydenham has been fast-tracked for removal by the state government.

From late January, the Level Crossing Removal Authority will start preparing the site to construct a new road bridge, which will alleviate congestion for the road’s 38,000 daily users.

The project will raise the Melton Highway above the train tracks via a six-lane bridge, with the road remaining open throughout construction, with two lanes of traffic in either direction.
