Sunshine West garage fire ‘suspicious’

Police are investigating the cause of a suspicious garage fire in Sunshine West on Monday, June 6.

Firefighters were called to the Hall Street blaze just before 4pm.

Fire Rescue Victoria said crews arrived at the scene to find the fire threatening to spread to the nearby house.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked quickly to prevent it spreading to the vacant house before concentrating on the contents of the garage.

FRV said the garage contents hampered extinguishing efforts as they needed to be removed to reach the seat of the fire and any other hot spots.

The fire was declared under control about 4.23pm.
