Sunshine has added some sparkle to its streets, with new decorative lighting installed throughout the town centre.

Hampshire Road, between Devonshire Road and Dickson Street and McDonald Lane have all been given the green light for a plan to add colour to the city streets.

Throughout the year the lights will change their colour in accordance to special events, including Christmas and the city’s Lantern Festival.

Brimbank mayor John Hedditch said the lighting was designed to attract a vibrant atmosphere and should also highlight the mosaic artwork along McDonald Lane.

He said the lighting has boosted Sunshine’s community, and has created a lively atmosphere.

“This new feature lighting creates an enticing and welcoming ambience for local residents as well as visitors to the Sunshine town centre,” Cr Hedditch said.

“Creating a welcoming environment through installations such as this helps to promote a space where our community feels safe enjoying the many nearby businesses and restaurants that Sunshine has to offer”.

He thanked local businesses for their patience while the work was completed.
