Skaters have the chance to put their decks to the test at a new skate park these school holidays.
The park was opened recently and is one component of the much-anticipated Sunvale Community Park.
Brimbank mayor Margaret Giudice said she was pleased the skate park was finished in time for the school holidays.
“We are delighted that the skate park section of the exciting new Sunvale Community Park is completed and thrilled to be able to open up this part of the park in time for the school holidays.
“Work is continuing on the Sunvale Community Park – which will include play spaces – including water play – a large, green ‘kick-a-ball’ space, a large shelter for gatherings and events, barbecue facilities, Indigenous art work, an edible garden and more.”
The $3.65 million Sunvale Community Park project was funded by the Brimbank City Council [$1.7 million], the Victorian government [$1.7 million], and Melbourne Water [$150,000].
The Victorian Government supported the skate park by providing $100,000.
Cr Giudice said the wider Sunshine community, particularly the members of Friends of Sunvale Community Park, had played a key role in shaping the project.
“I, and council, would like to thank everyone who has contributed to creating this important green space for our community to share.”
