Second man charged over David Whimpey’s death

A second man has been charged with murder of an Albanvale man whose body was found in a barrel in central Victoria.

David Whimpey, 30, was last seen alive on the Old Calder Highway, not far from the Keilor Hotel, on October 23 last year.

Detectives revealed last week Mr Whimpey’s body was found in a barrel at a property in Valley Road, Mia Mia, near Lake Eppalock on April 24, almost six months after his disappearance.

Sunshine man Brendan Stanley, 46, was charged with his murder last Tuesday. The charges came four days after St Albans man Brendan Abela, 31, was charged with murder.

Police have issued a public plea for any witnesses who may have seen a silver Subaru on the morning of Mr Whimpey’s disappearance.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report to crimestoppersvic.com.au.
