Parsons set for huge makeover

J.R. Parsons Reserve is set for a long overdue upgrade.

Brimbank council has unveiled a draft community vision and site plan, which is set to revitalise the tired facilities.

Brimbank mayor Lucinda Congreve said the council wanted to make the reserve a place people could be proud of.

“The aim of the draft community vision and site plan is to make this reserve the best it can be for the wider local community and the sports clubs that call the reserve home,” she said.

“We want to create new opportunities for the reserve to become a destination for locals to socialise, play, exercise and network; while also improving the landscape, safety and amenity.”

The plan includes widening oval two to allow a 50 metre radius cricket oval within the sports field. The surface would be upgraded with warm season grass. New lighting would also be installed.

A new tennis pavilion and courts would be installed and the carpark extended to 120 spaces.

Cr Congreve said community feedback had already helped develop the draft plan.

“We’ve already undertaken a range of consultations to help inform the development of this draft community vision.

“The response has been great to date. We thank everyone who has already been part of this process which has helped shape the draft vision.”

The draft plan is open for public exhibition until July 29.
