No arrests over violent rampage in Sunshine

Police are yet to lay any charges in relation to a violent crime spree which took place in Sunshine last month.

Three people were taken to hospital in serious condition after a group of up to 15 youths went on a rampage in Kennedy Street late on Saturday, March 2.

About 11.25pm a group of 10 to 15 males set upon a 35-year-old Braybrook man who was walking along Hertford Street, Sunshine.

His pockets were searched and demands were made for his wallet, but the group was scared off by local residents. The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The group then made their way along Kennedy Street where police believe they carried out a series of vicious assaults.

A 16-year-old was assaulted and taken to hospital with serious injuries and his 15-year-old friend, who came to his aid, was robbed and also assaulted.

A 13-year-old Melton girl and a 13-year-old Melton boy were also confronted by the group on Kennedy Street, with the boy suffering minor injuries.

The group also used a stick to assault a 14-year-old Corio girl who was searched for valuables and had her phone stolen.

The investigation remains ongoing.
