New childcare centre part of election pledge

A new child care service worth $5 million will be built in Brimbank if the federal government is re-elected in May.

The election commitment was made by the Labor candidate for Gorton Alice Jordan-Baird on April 14, to help families struggling to find a place at a local child care centre.

If it retains office, the government will work with the Brimbank community to identify an appropriate location for the new service.

“[We] will ensure that young families in Brimbank have access to affordable child care — because every child should get the best possible start in life,” Ms Gorton said.

“Gorton is one of the youngest communities in Australia, and [this] investment in child care will mean that our area continues to be a wonderful place to raise a family.”
