Labor is set to be returned to power with an increased majority, according to the latest poll results.

The western suburbs appear to be following a state-wide swing towards Labor, giving premier Dan Andrews a second consecutive term in office.

Seats across the west, including Altona, Williamstown, Footscray, Sydenham, St Albans, Kororoit and Tarneit all appear to be going strongly to Labor.

In Sydenham, Natalie Hutchins is running at more than 70 per cent of the two-party preferred votes by 8 pm.

At the same time, Kororoit’s Marlene Kairouz is polling at more than 80 per cent of the two party-preferred vote.

In Footscray, the Labor Party’s Katie Hall has been elected the new state member for Footscray, retaining the party’s stranglehold on a seat it has firmly held for almost a century.

Altona MP and current Health Minister Jill Hennessy is polling strongly, while in Williamstown, former MP Wade Noonan’s replacement for Labor, Melissa Horne, looks on track for victory.

In Werribee, local GP Joe Garra is polling 20 per cent of the first preference vote against Labor’s Tim Pallas.
