It’s been a bumper couple of years for the JDC Studios at Caroline Springs, and the studio is set to welcome its next crop of dancing superstars.

JDC Studios was recently crowned the top in the state at the Kids Artistic Revue competition for the second year running in a competition that pitted it against other dance studios from all over the state at the end of last year.

JDC owner Jason Di Cicco said it was a great reward for the students after many months of hard work.

“We had a total of 52 routines in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop and character, and this was performed through solos, duos, trios and troupe routines,” Mr Di Cicco said. “It was a big two days … but it was worth every minute.

“I think the kids were running on adrenaline most of the time, but everyone at the studio was really excited about the results.”

As well as the Top Studio award, JDC performers also took home a number of individual trophies and crowns for their performances.

Mr Di Cicco said the studio worked with youngsters aged five to 17, and specialised in preparing junior performers for arts careers.

“The comps like KAR are run like a professional competition, so it’s fantastic experience for the performers,” he said. “We compete all year round to try and give the kids as much experience as possible and prepare them for a professional performing career.”

JDC will hold an open day this Saturday, noon-4pm at 9/1037-1043 Western Highway, Ravenhall, with aspiring dancers urged to come down, check it out and enrol.
