Healing ceremony to be held on Australia Day

Moonee Valley council will be holding a Bunjil’s Marroun Healing ceremony on January 26.

Community members from across Melbourne’s west are invited to come and learn about and experience what the day means to the Traditional Owners.

The Moonee Valley mayor and councilors, local MP’s and Ambassador Deepak Vinayak JP OAM have been invited to pay their respects and hear from local elders and their families.

The ceremony will include an acknowledgment of history by Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder Aunty Dianne Kerr, poetry by Aunty Gail Smith and her granddaughter Tienna, a reflection from Uncle Jack Charles and performance by the Nhanbu Togip dance group.

The ceremony will be held at Woodlands Park, Essendon at 5pm on Wednesday.
