The artists behind two exciting new exhibitions are inviting locals to join them in to create their own face filters, animations, clay monsters and more.

Melton council is currently hosting the ‘#Socialmediology’ and ‘Never be Late for a Parade’ exhibitions.

The #Socialmediology exhibition by Liam Herne, is on display at CS Gallery at the Caroline Springs Library until late next month.

Herne uses photography, digital art and traditional art to look at concepts around our online identities and correlations between how we act in the digital world versus the real world.

In several events, participants can learn to create their own face filters, GIFs, memes, and digital art, or sit in on a panel discussion with Herne about the impact of social media on our day-to-day behaviour.

‘Never be Late for a Parade’ is an exhibition by one of Australia’s most celebrated children’s book author illustrators, Shaun Tan.

Showing at Melton Library through to March, it features a selection of brilliant images that celebrate Tan’s unique approach to storytelling from his best known titles including The Arrival, Cicada, and The Lost Thing.

Tan will host live readings online this month as part of the summer school holiday program.
