Members of the Western Health Singers choir are preparing for one of their biggest annual performances.

The group will help usher in the festive season as part of the Merry and Bright concert, which will be held at Federation Square on Sunday, November 26, from 2pm.

Western Health Singers choir member Jacinta Roberton said the concert, billed as an all-star line-up of acts from across the country, was a highlight for the group.

“We perform about three or four times a year, but this concert always has some significant acts and is a pretty big deal,” Ms Roberton said.

The choir was founded four years ago and is made up of Western Health staff and patients.

The group performs as part of the Choir of Hard Knocks and although it has a dedicated group of core members, it is seeking new members.

“We meet after work every Thursday night in the training and education building and would really like some new members to join us,” Ms Roberton said.

“You don’t have to have any experience or skill. People of all abilities are welcome and there’s no audition process.”

As well as an opportunity to meet new people, Ms Roberton said the choir offers the chance for members to vastly improve their musical abilities and knowledge.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to improve your skills as a singer and as a member you’ll really develop a greater knowledge of music.”
