Brimbank council’s Director of Infrastructure and Environment Paul Younis has been named as council’s new chief executive officer.
Appointed last night, Mr Younis will start his new role on October 12 following the resignation of Bill Jaboor.
“It will be a very interesting and challenging time,” he told the Star Weekly last night.
“I’m excited, humbled, I’m thrilled.
Mr Younis has two years’ CEO experience with Corangamite council, to go with 20 years of experience in a range of senior management positions
He was also Acting CEO with Buloke Shire Council for six months.
“It was a real mess there,” he said.
The council suspended last night’s ordinary meeting to the public for several minutes before announcing Mr Younis as the new CEO.
Mr Jaboor, who will work his final day at council on October 9, said he greatly enjoyed serving a “diverse and complex community”.
Director Corporate and Community Relations Helen Morrissey estimated Mr Jaboor had spent 72 weeks of his life sitting in council meetings.
