Melbourne-based Sapphire Dance troupe will kick off a night of Indian film when Village Cinemas Sunshine hosts its Bollywood themed evening show on Sunday, February 12.

The dance ensemble was co-founded by Jaya Karan and her sister-in-law, Piyali Somaia. “We created Sapphire Dance because we wanted to bring excellent Bollywood dancing to Melbourne, but also with a point of difference… we have a ballerina in our dance troupe, we have a hip hop dancer, a contemporary dancer, a gymnast, plus many of us are Indian classically trained as well,” Ms Karan said.

The Bollywood dancing show will be followed by a screening of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Village Cinemas Sunshine, Sunday February 12, 4pm. Free.
