Labor has retained its stranglehold on the seat of Niddrie.
With 25 per cent of votes counted, Minister for Industry and Employment Ben Carroll is running at 64 per cent of the two-party preferred votes.
Mr Carroll said he was thrilled with the result.
“I’m very pleased and very humbled that four years of hard work has been rewarded by the community and I look forward to rolling up the sleeves and continuing with it,” Mr Carroll said.
“We’ve seen positive results right across the state and it shows what a positive agenda can achieve.”
Mr Carroll said he has a list of priorities for Niddrie set out for the next four years.
“We’ve got $24 million in capital works going into schools and other infrastructure and we’ve got intersection fixes we’re committed to,” he said.
“I’m also going to advocate for better public transport options for the community.
“Niddrie is adjacent to the airport rail and suburban rail loop projects and I want this area to be included in both.”
