St Albans Catholic Regional College is celebrating another successful arts exhibition.

The annual exhibition, which has been running for more than 20 years, is a highlight with students across all year levels.

Catholic Regional College staff member Angela Robinson said the exhibition was laden with colour and creative designs, showcasing almost a year’s effort.

“There’s a lot of work that goes into this exhibition each year,” she said.

“It’s a showcase of the kids’ work over 10 months, which really shows off the various subjects children can study at the school.”

Student involvement isn’t just limited to producing the art either. Ms Robinson said the children have a role in all parts of the planning.

“We start planning for the exhibition in February and the children not only work on themes for their creations, but also help with marketing.”

The exhibition features a number of eye-catching pieces, but Ms Robinson said there’s one series which never fails to please.

“The year 10 students create self portraits with a twist,” she said. “They take a painting they like and put their face into it. It’s always a highlight.”

Other themes include food, ceramics, shoes and skateboard decks.

This year is also the first year woodwork has been included.
