Police are appealing for assistance after a man was shot in a burglary gone wrong in Ardeer last month.
Investigators believe a group of men had been attempting to access a property on Maxweld Street about 1.30am on October 25 when they were interrupted by a man from a nearby house.
The 59-year-old Ardeer man confronted the men and two shots were fired towards him, one of which struck the victim in the face.
The first shot impacted the side of his face, causing damage to his eye. The second did not strike the victim.
He was conveyed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The group of men then fled the scene in three vehicles – two dark coloured hatchbacks and one red compact SUV.
]Armed Crime Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Newman said it was a particularly concerning incident.
“We understand that incidents such as this one cause significant concern across the broader community,” he said.
Investigators are also keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and has dashcam footage or is yet to speak to police.
Police are urging anyone with information or with dashcam footage of any of the incidents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
