Brimbank’s youth will be celebrated this week as Victorian Youth Week comes to the municipality.
Brimbank Youth Services and Brimbank libraries have teamed up to host a series of events celebrating young people aged 12 to 25 and the positive contributions they make to the community.
Brimbank mayor Lucinda Congreve said it’s a fitting celebration of the municipality’s young people.
“Council is committed to ensuring the voices and ideas of young people are acknowledged and heard, and that young people are recognised as equals in our community,” she said.
Events will be held between April 5-14 at libraries, neighbourhood houses and youth spaces across Brimbank.
Events will include youth drop-in and mindfulness activities, a gaming tournament, and a career talks service.
Cr Congreve said the careers program was a terrific opportunity to begin building a network.
“Career Talks is a series of workshops and live podcasting events offering free meals, career conversations and networking for young people in Brimbank,” she said.
