Grand getaway: 6 Witchmount Close, Hillside, 3037

A resort lifestyle was the goal when this opulent residence, located adjacent to parkland, was built about 13 years ago.

To set the scene, the owners trucked in palm trees from Queensland. Sprawling behind the waving leaves and pebbled beds, is a two-storey vision of curved glass and art deco flair.

Inside, marble floors and a constellation of downlights on dramatic, high ceilings, sweep through most of the house.

In the formal lounge to the right of the entrance hall, sumptuous carpets cradle the feet and a bank of floor-to-ceiling windows is festooned with Austrian blinds. A feature wall has a state-of-the-art audio-visual system built in above a contemporary fireplace.

In the kitchen, flawless cabinets hold everything a gourmet chef could want and there are stainless-steel appliances. An arcing island bar that, like the house’s grand stair case, is designed to resemble the curving lines of the exterior, invites family and guests to linger and chat while masterpiece meals are created.

Abutting this glittering space are a dining room and a second living room with a double-sided fireplace. On the other side of this centrepiece, a third lounge, backdropped by mirrors, is just the spot for a quiet late-night drink and fireside reflections.

All the bedrooms have plush carpets as well as their own luxurious en suites.

Upstairs, the immense main bedroom has an unbroken view of the tropical front garden.

A third living room, also on this floor, salutes the 1950s-style American diner with red booths and its very own circular, checkered dance floor.

Back downstairs, a massive, covered entertainment area, with timber decking and textured paving, sits outside the family zone.

The yard continues around the house and opens out to a large rear garden just behind an expansive double garage.

The residence has every comfort, as well as everything that’s needed for peace of mind, including security intercom and roller shutters. Quintessentially, it is both a family haven and a glorious getaway.
