1700 residents have officially objected to Boral’s plans for an extension of their Ravenhall landfill.
The Weekly reported hundreds of residents attended a community meeting last Wednesday to voice their displeasure with years of foul odours and extension plans which would make the landfill one of the largest in Australia.
However Melton council planning and development general manager Luke Shannon said while objections were coming in each day, he didn’t expect council to make a decision next month as initially flagged.
“Certainly I wouldn’t be committed to it happening at the April council meetings, for which there is two. I don’t think it is in anyone’s interest for it to drag on.”
He said it was expected councillors would be briefed on the application in the next two to three weeks.
