School holiday fun at Taylors Hill

Creek-side cooking and catching elusive Pokemon will be the drawcards for a bunch of school holiday activities at Taylors Hill.

Children can learn to shop and cook like their culinary heroes on My Kitchen Rules or “catch them all” at an interactive Pokemon Go day.

It’s all part of the YMCA school holiday program (September 19 to 29) for children aged five to 12. There will also be a disco party, a spring carnival event celebrating the Melbourne Cup, a trip to Como House, an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo and a do-it-yourself day.

Outside of school hours co-ordinator Amanda Bell said the holiday program gives youngsters the chance to try new things in a safe environment. “We want children’s imaginations to run wild,” she said.

“We choose our activities based on what kids are interested in.

“And we keep up with the trends,” she said. “Especially with the recent buzz around Pokemon Go.

“Every holiday we run different activities, but one thing remains – making sure kids have fun and that they are safe.”

Registrations to www.childrenservices.ymca.org.au/holidayprograms or call 9307 5000.

The YMCA Taylors Hill can be found at 12 Park Lane, Taylors Hill.
