Seniors meet

The Derrimut Community Centre seniors group returns for 2017, with the fortnightly meetings starting on February 7. Head along for some social interaction and activities including morning tea, listening to guest speakers and learning new skills. The group meets every second Tuesday from 10am-noon at 30 Lennon Parkway, Derrimut. Cost is $5 per session.

Band in recruiting phase

Sunshine Street Band is having its first jam of 2017, and everyone is invited to come along. The band is open to musos, from beginners to experienced players, and to all instruments, from woodwind and horns to guitar and percussion. Head to Albion Community House on Tuesday, February 7, from 7-9pm, and give it a try. The band rehearses fortnightly throughout the year.

PoetTree

Following the popularity and success of a recent poetry competition run by Friends of Kororoit Creek, PoetTree has opened at the Sunshine Arts Spaces Gallery. The free exhibition will include poetry entries and a tactile poetry wall. Featured artist Jessica Gerger will present an “indoor mini-creek” experience with a fallen branch and a sound track. Until February 22, at 11 Sun Crescent, Sunshine.
