Taste of Kyneton

Where: Kyneton Racecourse

When: 11-3pm, Sunday, February 28

The toast of Kyneton’s thriving foodie scene will lay out a massive spread of signature dishes at Sunday’s Taste of Kyneton festival. The festival will also showcase the many and diverse offerings of Piper Street and beyond. Local beers and ciders will also be available. Entry is $10, with proceeds supporting Kyneton CFA and RM Begg Aged Care. More details: www.tasteofkyneton.com

Spotswood Pumping Station tours

Where: Spotswood Pumping Station, Science Works, Spotswood

When: 1pm, most days

Nestled under the West Gate Bridge and behind Scienceworks sits a 19th century industrial relic, its architectural grandeur a seeming contrast with its former purpose. Painstakingly restored and maintained by volunteers, the pumping station has opened for daily guided tours. Click here for more details.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Where: Pipemaker’s Park, Maribyrnong

When: 6.30pm until February 28

One of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays will be brought to life on the banks of the Maribyrnong River this month. Directed by Alan Chambers, the play will include Brendan Ewing as mischievous elf Puck, Zak Zavod as fairy king Oberon and Angelique de St Jorre as fairy queen Titania.

Jokulsarlon, on the south coast of Iceland, is the inspiration behind the Sanctuary Lakes resident Robert Young’s most recent exhibition, Ice Lagoon.

Criagieburn Festival

Where: DS Aitken Reserve

When: 3-10pm. Saturday February 27 and 11am-4pm, Sunday, February 28

MasterChef 2013 winner Emma Dean will teach people how to grow food in small gardens and other tricks of the trade for those with limited space at the Craigieburn Festival. Other highlights will include a wildlife show, singers, camel rides, a torchlight parade and children’s cooking workshops. Dean’s presentation scheduled between 11am and 2pm on Sunday. Click here for details.

Melton Wellbeing & Psychic Expo

Where: Werribee racecourse

When: From 10am., Sunday, February 28

We guess one can never have too many psychic expos. Mediums, clairvoyants, spirit artists, tarot and palm readers will ply their finely tuned arts at Werribee racecourse on Sunday. Stalls showcasing crystal and jewellery will also be on hand. Expo entry is $10 for adults and $7 concession.
