Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Primary School grade 3 pupils, including Matilda, Eliza, Kitty and Olivia (pictured with Rigby), raised more than $300 for The Lost Dogs’ Home during the school holidays.
The Sunshine students organised a cafe selling hot drinks and nibbles, and held a raffle with prizes donated by local shops.
“We felt sorry for these dogs and we wanted to help them by raising money,” the girls wrote in the school’s newsletter.
Their teacher Stephanie Di Sante said the girls demonstrated by their ‘social justice’ in action that they are living out many of the school’s values of courage, justice, peace, respect, service and compassion.
“They saw a need and decided to do something about it,” she said.
