Body found in Maribyrnong River

POLICE are investigating whether a body found in the Maribyrnong River yesterday is that of a 37-year-old man who went missing on September 2.

The discovery was made near Maribyrnong Road shortly before 10.30am.

Although the body is yet to be formally identified, police believe it could be a Taylors Lakes man who was last seen in the water near the Anglers Tavern last Sunday week after he tried to swim across the river.

Police do not believe the death is suspicious.
