Wii are the champs

SUNSHINE Hospital physiotherapist Tammy Dinh and patient Russell Kay-Hards (pictured) changed up their regular physiotherapy session with a Nintendo Wii game.

The activity was part of World Physiotherapy Day celebrations at the hospital last Wednesday.

After suffering a stroke in May, Mr Kay-Hards couldn’t speak, walk, swallow or move the right side of his body.

But the Wyndham Vale resident, 38, has progressed in leaps and bounds in the past three months and says he won’t stop until he’s back to his old self.

“I see improvements in myself every week. My long-term goal is to be riding my bike, surfing and running again. The physiotherapy at the hospital has been great because a lot of my upper body wasn’t functioning properly, so I’ve been working on those muscles and regaining my balance.”
