NORTH Sunshine soccer club is unsure who sent an anonymous letter to Keilor Downs police as an investigation into an alleged brawl after a soccer match in St Albans continues.
“I wouldn’t have a clue,” North Sunshine president Besnick Kutleshi said. “We’d heard that somebody had sent in a letter but I’m sure who it was.”
Keilor Downs police are calling on the author of the letter to come forward.
Investigators received the anonymous letter on Thursday, July 18 and believe the person who sent it holds key information about the incident at Larissa Oval on Saturday, June 29.
Detectives would also like to speak to the person who was filming the match with a video camera set-up on a tripod from the back of a ute.
Police were called to a soccer oval around 4.50pm after reports of a number of people fighting.
Mr Kutleshi has contested police reports that at least 60 people, including players, officials and spectators, were involved.
Three men, an 18-year-old and his 54-year-old father, along with another spectator, were all assaulted during the incident and later required medical attention for their injuries.
Mr Kutleshi said up to 60 North Sunshine players, members and supporters will attend a Respect and Responsibility meeting tonight, chaired by the Football Federation Victoria, following the fracas.
Police have received numerous calls to Crime Stoppers and have spoken to a number of people in relation to the incident; however no charges have been laid at this stage.
Anyone with information about the incident or who may know the identity of any of those involved is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
