Brimbank’s youth are set to takeover the airwaves.

The Brimbank Council has launched a new program called Brimbank Live, which will allow young people to co-host live and pre-recorded radio shows for the global online radio station LIVE FM.

The shows will be broadcast as part of Brimbank Live Week which will frun from July 6-10.

Brimbank mayor Georgina Papafotiou said it was a wonderful opportunity for budding media performers.

“There are 13 young people from diverse backgrounds involved in the program, and they are being trained in how to host and produce radio content, techniques to interview guests, script writing and production of voiceovers, as well as how to pitch and promote programs to target audiences,” Cr Papafotiou said.

Participants will produce a minimum of 30 hours of content during the week.

Program participant, Adongwot Manyoul said it’s been an enriching experience.

“The Brimbank Live Radio project has been a fantastic opportunity to build my media skills as well as giving me a platform to produce stories that matter to me, to my community, and to the world at large,” Ms Manyoul said.

You can listen to ‘Brimbank Live Week’ at www.livefm.online or on the LIVE FM app which is available from the App Store or Google Play Store.
