Inpamalar Sivarajah studied accounting, but it was working with children rather than numbers that made her happy.
For the past 15 years, the Delahey woman has worked at Brimbank Family Day Care, where she looks after pre-schoolers and school-aged children.
The time and effort she has put into those children has not gone unnoticed.
The 63-year-old has just been named the western suburbs’ regional winner in the 2016 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
Ms Sivarajah said five parents had nominated her for the award. “We’re all very close because we talk every day about their children’s progress,” she said. “I’m committed to doing everything for those children; I take care of them like I did my own.”
Ms Sivarajah is now in the running to be named Victorian winner, who will be announced on October 24.
