Plans lodged for Keilor Park brewery

Plans lodged with Brimbank council propose to convert a vacant warehouse at Keilor Park into a seven-day-a-week licenced brewery.

The council is assessing a permit application, lodged by business consultancy Ted Hart and Associates, for a brewery at 46 Concorde Drive.

The applicants initially planned to build a licensed cafe and restaurant as part of the brewery but have since changed their blueprint.

The applicants hope to open the brewery between 7am and 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 10am until 11pm on Sundays.

The business would employ two full-time staff.

“Sale of alcohol is on a commercial basis, by wholesale only – not to the public from the premises,” the application read.

“The licensed premises … will add to the city’s culture and vibrancy.

“We only plan to brew once to twice a week; in the initial stages it may only be once to twice a month.

“One person will be able to run this process alone.”

The only licensed premises nearby is U Brew It in TransLink Drive, Keilor Park.

Consultant Ted Hart, acting on behalf of the applicant, said the applicant was “a young, vibrant bloke” who believed a brewery would be good for the area.
