Cutting almost 60 centimetres of her magnificent mane has made a Hillside woman one of the state’s greatest shavers, both in length lost and money earned.
Uthpala ‘Upi’ Adikari set herself the goal of raising $6000 for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the World’s Greatest Shave.
But she upped it to $10,000 after the wild success of her fundraising put her in the state’s top 20 fundraisers.
“I’m three-quarters there,” she said, with the latest count at $7910.
The 25-year-old software analyst lost her long locks last weekend.
Her tresses will be donated to Variety and made into wigs for patients who have lost their locks.
