More than a dozen of the west’s most creative artists have joined forces for the Sweet FA (Sweet Footscray Arts) extravaganza.
The doors of the iconic Trocadero Building in the heart of Footscray will be opened wide this weekend for two days of exhibitions, performances, installations, workshops and talks as part of the Due West Festival.
Artists including Aaron Martin, Alison Langley, Brent Edwards, Jack Mannix, Laura Carthew and Steven Rhall have been working for months to create a program jam-packed with events shining a light on artist-run galleries that have put Footscray firmly on the art map. Based on an idea by Five Walls director Aaron Martin, studios and galleries in the building at 119 Hopkins Street will be open all day with the official Sweet FA launch to be held from 6-9pm Saturday.
Alison Langley will host a ‘Make your own photo artwork’ workshop for kids from 1-2pm on Sunday (register via email: little.NoBIG@gmail.com).
Artist talks will be held throughout the studios from 2 -3.30pm.
