Bowls Victoria: Deer Park pays the price

DEER Park was on the receiving end of a heavy 98-62 defeat to Elsternwick Club in the Bowls Victoria division 1 on Saturday.

The loss has cost the Parkers top spot on the ladder as they went down for just the second time in six outings since being promoted to the second tier competition.

They will meet Footscray Park-Rosamond in an all-top four clash at Robert Barrett Reserve in the shadows of Highpoint shopping centre on Saturday.

In division 2, Sunshine City’s section 1 struggles continued with a 98-57 loss to title contenders Sunshine.

City has won just once in five starts.

Sunshine RSL was hammered 93-64 by the previously winless Hoppers.

Keilor lost a section 2 nailbiter 85-82 to Broadmeadows.

The top sides from Sunshine VRI and St Albans were also beaten handsomely on a disappointing day for Brimbank-based clubs.
