Stolen car chase through Sunshine after robberies, threats

POLICE pursued a group of men in a stolen car through Sunshine on Wednesday afternoon  following a string of robberies in the western suburbs.

Two men told police they were threatened with a knife by a group of three or
four men of Pacific Islander appearance opposite Highpoint shopping centre.

The group escaped with the victims’ mobile phones after the incident in
Rosamond Road, Maribyrnong, about 2.30pm.

Police chased a stolen car thought to contain the men through Sunshine
shortly afterwards, but terminated the pursuit when the car was driven for some
distance on the wrong side of the road.

They are appealing for anyone who sees the car, believed to be a maroon
Nissan Skyline with registration plates SIC JDP, to phone triple 0.

Police are also investigating reports the same men were involved in three
other robberies in Braybrook about an hour later.

Three students were also robbed while they were waiting for a bus in
Ravenhall Street. A 14-year-old boy had his phone stolen, and a 14-year-old boy
and 12-year-old boy had their laptops stolen.
