St Albans crash: Two dead, one critically injured in head-on

TWO people are dead and another has been critically injured in a head-on
smash in St Albans this morning.

Police have closed a section of St Albans Road in St Albans while they
investigate the cause of the crash, which occurred just before 5am.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said two people, a man and a woman, died in the
crash. They were believed to be travelling in the same vehicle.

Another man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical
condition.

“Police have so far been unable to identify the persons concerned as the
paramedics are working on them,” the police spokeswoman said.

St Albans Road has been closed between Furlong Road and Gilmour Road, and
police have asked drivers to avoid the area.

Victoria’s road toll stands at 225 for the year, compared to 218 for the same
time last year.
