Croatian Social Club members Monique, Franka, Claudia and Franka (pictured) will be putting a different spin on the German tradition of Oktoberfest in Sunshine on October 20. The celebration, first held in 2005, has become something of a tradition among the Croatian club’s 200 members. President Daniel Keas says ‘Crocktoberfest’ is the largest Croatian festival in the southern hemisphere. “We are expecting more than 4000 people this year. It’s a family event; there is something for everybody.” This year’s festival will include live entertainment, traditional Croatian and German dancers, pretzels and beers on tap. Children can enjoy jumping castles, face-painting and rides. Crocktoberfest is at the Melbourne Knights Stadium, 2 Somers Street, North Sunshine, from midday until late.
