FROM 20 September, local aged, disability and carer pensioners, as well as veterans’ income support recipients, will receive a boost to their pension. For singles on the maximum rate, you will get an extra $17.10 a fortnight. For couples on the maximum rate, it’s an extra $25.80 a fortnight combined in your pocket. Seniors often have the least room to move in their budgets – that’s why it’s so important that when prices go up, the pension also goes up. The Gillard Government is committed to ensuring that our pensioners can keep up with the cost of living. We have made giving seniors a fair go a top priority and we have delivered some significant reforms to help them out. The Gillard Government will keep delivering for seniors in our community.
