Used syringes found
Hundreds of used syringes were found on a Kealba walking path on Thursday. A passer-by made the discovery on a track near the EJ Whitten Bridge just before 3pm. Bottles of methadone and prescription tranquilliser were also discovered among a large load of household rubbish and children’s toys. Brimbank Council sent a maintenance worker to the area to collect and dispose of the syringes within an hour of being notified.
Home intruder escapes
Brimbank police are seeking information from the public about a man who tried to break into a house in Kurung Drive, Kings Park. The incident happened shortly before midnight on August 31. Police said the burglar was disturbed by the occupants and fled via the roof. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
Charged over armed robberies
A man and two youths have been charged over a series of armed robberies. Embona taskforce detectives arrested the man, 20, and the male youths, aged 17 and 13, over five armed robberies on the Sydenham train line on September 4. Acting Inspector Chris Gilbert said the man and the youths had been charged with five counts of armed robbery. He said they were assisting police with inquiries. The man will face Sunshine Magistrates Court this month.
Feedback on disability plan
Brimbank Council’s disability action plan is on public display. The plan aims to improve employment, education and health of residents with a disability. Submissions close September 22. Details: brimbank.vic.gov.au.
Heard at the ‘listening post’
More than 100 residents attended a recent Brimbank Council “listening post” in St Albans. Police were also part of the event. Acting Inspector Gilbert said a large crowd passed through the display site. “Residents made their thoughts known on safety issues in the area and the response to the increased police presence in St Albans was extremely positive.”
