IT was a tough day at the office for Keilor in the Essendon District Football League finals on Saturday.
With their seniors failing to qualify, Blues fans turned their attention to the reserve and under-18 teams for a taste of the September action.
Both sides had little joy on a double whammy weekend as they were bundled out in both competitions.
In the premier division reserves, Keilor was poleaxed to the tune of 81 points by Aberfeldie in a cut-throat semi-final at Coburg City Oval.
The Blues led by a point at quarter-time, but conceded 16 of the last 20 goals to lose by a huge margin.
It was much closer in the under-18s, but Keilor came up short by eight points in a thriller against Essendon Doutta Stars.
The sides were neck and neck all game, but the Stars advanced on the back of two goals to one last term.
Meanwhile, East Keilor was victorious by eight points over Moonee Valley in the inaugural division 2 grand final at Windy Hill.
It was Hillside’s premiership in the division 2 reserves after a nail-biting one-point win over East Keilor in the season decider.
The Sharks’ prime targets were Evan Bassingthwaighte (four goals) and Shaun Thompson (three).
In the under-18 division 2, Roxburgh Park crushed East Keilor by 10 goals.
The division 1 grand finals will take place at Windy Hill this Sunday.
