THERE was nothing routine about the performance of Caroline Springs gymnasts when they took the floor at two regional competitions this month.
Gymnastics Unlimited members, including Elisha, 8 (pictured centre), vaulted and twisted their way to first place at the YMCA championships in Geelong on July 1 and to third place at the MLC Classic six days later.
While they might have been too young to press their claims for the current Olympic Games, coach Slavik Shorinov says their commitment to a training regimen of eight hours a week proves the sky’s the limit.
“They’re competing against all the best clubs in the western region. They work hard and they’ll keep on striving.”
