Dogs nab man as he flees

POLICE dogs were used to capture an Altona Meadows man who has since been charged with aggravated burglary and other offences.

About 4pm on May 28, police were called to intercept a vehicle in McCubbin Drive, Taylors Lakes, but abandoned a pursuit due to the suspect’s erratic driving.

The police air wing tracked the vehicle to Main Road East, St Albans, where the man allegedly tried to force a police car off the road.

He then did a U-turn and crashed into the car.

The driver, 50, fled on foot but was apprehended by the canine unit.

He was charged with aggravated burglary, reckless conduct endangering life, resisting arrest and making threats to kill.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Sunshine Magistrates Court tomorrow.
